Our range vertical balers reduce costs by reducing the storage space needed, they create a revenue stream because baled waste, whether that’s cardboard, plastic or polythene, is a valuable item. These machines also provide a positive environmental impact reducing carbon footprint due to less transportation trips as well as reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.
Vertical balers facilitate waste sorting directly at the source by compressing loose materials into manageable bales. These bales are easy to handle and occupy minimal space, thereby simplifying transportation and waste disposal.
Vertical balers operate by applying force to compact loose waste materials into a dense bundle, or bale. Users insert materials such as cardboard or soft plastics through the filling opening. Inside the machine, a press plate exerts downward pressure on the material. Retainers within the chamber prevent the material from expanding and maintain the waste in a compressed state when not under pressure, ensuring that the bale is as compact as possible. Waste continues to be added until a sufficient quantity has accumulated to form a complete bale.
A cardboard baler has a large opening and works automatically. When the cardboard is placed in the baler, the baler will automatically crush the box whereas with a wheelie bin the cardboard needs folding first to ensure space efficiency. A baler will do this automatically and actually works better when being fed with whole boxes.
Vertical balers are ideal for compacting cardboard, plastic, and paper waste. While they can process all three materials, it’s essential to bale them separately to prevent cross-contamination. Contaminated bales are often rejected by recyclers, leaving landfill as the only disposal option. To maximise the value of your recyclable materials and ensure compliance with recycling standards, we strongly recommend sorting your waste and creating separate bales for each material type. Our stuffer frames are ideal to help with this or if you have suitable volumes, a separate baler for each material.
There are many recycling companies actively seeking baled cardboard and plastic, subject to material type and load weight. We can connect you with reputable local recyclers who are willing to collect or purchase your materials per tonne, providing a convenient and environmentally responsible solution for your business. Many recyclers also offer a view of the full process, so you can see how your efforts in recycling are affecting the wider chain.
During the machine installation, we will conduct a brief product training session to ensure you are well-equipped to operate and maintain this specific baler. Additionally, the baler is accompanied by a manual that includes a daily maintenance checklist to guide you through essential upkeep procedures.

During these visits, our qualified engineers will thoroughly inspect the machine, apply grease where necessary, and replenish the oil. Additionally, you will receive a certificate of inspection, which is often required for health and safety audits.

Payment Terms: A monthly invoice paid via direct debit on the first of every month.
2. Lease
Payment Terms: A quarterly invoice paid via direct debit to Siemens.
3. Outright Purchase
Option 1 – 3 Stage Payment Process
50% Deposit: An invoice is raised the day the sale is processed. Immediate payment is required to secure the machine.
40% Dispatch: An invoice is raised the day the sale is processed. Payment is required before dispatching the machine, usually 2-3 days before shipment.
10% Commissioning: An invoice is raised on the day the machine is installed and commissioned. You have 30 days to pay this invoice.
Option 2: Single Invoice
Alternatively, you can opt to pay the entire amount upfront on a single invoice. Payment is required before we can release the machine.

A baler can be located outside, but it must be protected from the weather. Exposure to rain, snow, and extreme temperatures can damage the equipment and reduce its lifespan. If placed outdoors, it’s recommended to use a weatherproof cover or house the baler in a sheltered area.

The weight of cardboard bales produced by vertical balers typically ranges from 30 kg with smaller models like the B3, up to 650 kg with larger models such as the B50W. Plastic bales generally range from 40 kg to 650 kg, depending on the material type and baler model.
A mill size baler is a type of baling machine that produces large, dense bales—typically around 500 kg in weight. These bales meet the specifications required by recycling mills, helping to maximize the payload of collection lorries and increase the rebate value. To qualify as “mill size,” bales must be at least 100 cm high, 120 cm wide, 80 cm deep, and weigh a minimum of 400 kg. Popular mill size balers include the B30W and B50 models.
Yes, our widest vertical baler, the B30 Wide is designed to handle large boxes, including empty packaging from 65” widescreen TVs, without the need to break them down first. For more details, check the filling opening dimensions listed in each baler’s product specifications.
The B-series is suitable for standard waste such as cardboard and paper. If you need to process a wider range or heavier materials, the X-series is the better choice.
The bales are secured manually using either wire or plastic baler strapping. Their sizes and weights vary based on the specifications of the baler used.
Yes, cardboard bales can be stored outside. A tightly compacted bale absorbs significantly less water than loose cardboard. Since cardboard is pulped during the recycling process, minor exposure to rainwater does not typically affect its recyclability.
Baled cardboard is much less combustible than loose cardboard in bins. The compacted form limits airflow, which reduces the risk of ignition and slows the spread of fire.
Cardboard does have value—many stores receive a small rebate from recyclers for it. However, when collected in small quantities, the rebate is minimal due to transportation costs. That said, you can be confident that your cardboard will be collected free of charge.

Fully Automatic Balers
Fully automatic balers are used to produce stable, high-density bales from recyclable materials such as paper, cardboard, and plastics where limited space is available.
Yes, depending on your requirements, a range of loading options such as bin lifters, through-the-wall chutes, pneumatic conveying systems, belt conveyors, or any other feeder systems can be added.
High volume channel balers can process a variety of materials, including the following: aluminum cans, cardboard, plastic foil, mixed paper, wood chips, PET, RDF, HDPE, high grade paper and OCC trims. If you’re going to be switching between different materials often, ensure that the baler is cleaned out in-between uses so that waste contamination is avoided.
Semi Automatic Balers
The baler operative hand loads the waste material into the machine via the hopper – or if there is a bin lift attached, they load the bin and hook it up to the baler – where it will be compressed by the hydraulic press plate into a dense mill-size bale. Once complete, the bale is tied off by the operator using baler wire or strapping, and finally, it’s removed from the machine for storage until it is collected.
A semi-automatic baler significantly reduces the volume of your waste material, which helps free up valuable storage space and decreases the frequency of waste removal trips—ultimately lowering your overall waste management costs. Additionally, by producing mill-size bales, you can achieve higher rebates from recyclers and maximise the payload capacity of collection lorries, making your recycling process more efficient and cost-effective.
Static Compactors
Static compactors are ideal for compacting a range of bulky waste materials, including cardboard, waste paper, and wooden boxes. They are also capable of handling EURO pallets and wooden packaging materials with ease. With a high compaction force, static compactors can achieve a loading weight of up to 300 kg, making them a reliable solution for reducing the volume of heavy and rigid waste.

Portable Compactors
Yes, our portable compactors can be supplied with an integrated bin tipping system for easy loading. This is most commonly designed for 1100-litre wheelie bins, but we can also accommodate bespoke bin sizes to suit your specific requirements.

We will guide you through some initial troubleshooting steps over the phone. If the issue cannot be resolved remotely, we will promptly arrange for an engineer to visit your site.
Yes, we offer one-off callouts for customers without a service contract. Our engineers are trained to maintain a wide range of waste machinery***, whether supplied by Greenbank or other manufacturers. With engineers located nationwide, we can usually attend to breakdowns as early as the next working day.
We aim for an engineer to arrive the next working day after the breakdown being reported.
We supply spare parts for a wide range of machinery, including Bramidan, Presto, Moovmor, and Cobalt equipment. You can order parts directly from us, and if needed, our engineers can also fit them for you.

Standard Contract

Mastercare XP Contract**

Mastercare Contract*

If your machinery is covered by a Mastercare or Mastercare XP contract, all call-outs related to fair wear and tear are included at no additional cost. However, any failures resulting from operator error, malicious damage, neglect, lack of maintenance according to the manual, or false call-outs are not covered under these plans and may incur additional charges.

During a site survey, one of our engineers will visit your location to assess all necessary requirements for the machine installation. This includes evaluating available space, power supply options, and logistics for transporting the machine to ensure a smooth and efficient installation process.
On install day, our engineers will visit your site to install the machine, ensuring it is fully operational and meets all specifications. They will also provide training to the relevant team members, guiding them on the correct and safe use of the equipment.
Materials
The standard recyclable types are from one of 4 categories – PET, HDPE, LDPE or PP.
PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate – found in single use plastic items and some food containers) and HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene – found in shampoo bottles, milk bottles) being the most commonly recycled. Other types of plastic are PP (Polypropylene – found in yoghurt pots and food trays) and LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene – found in shrink wrap, plastic bags, bread bags).
