About the role
As a Production Engineer you will be the senior person on the workshop floor that is able to carry out your own tasks that are set for you, along with being able to assist and train new and existing members of staff. Being part of the workshop team that prepare new machines, and recondition /service second hand machines, we would expect you to adhere to the existing systems, although suggested improvements are welcome. One of your main tasks is to oversee the staff and improve/maintain the efficiency of the workshop whilst keeping on top of the general housekeeping.
Preferred Requirements
The following knowledge / qualifications are required or preferred but training will be provided as necessary.
We are looking for people with a strong positive attitude, with drive and enthusiasm to succeed, and a willingness to participate in the development of the business.
- Extensive electrical and mechanical knowledge
- LOLER and PUWER legislation awareness
- Have a good understanding of Health and Safety and its practical implications
- NVQ in electrical or mechanical trades would be an advantage
- CSCS preferred
The Role Entails:
Inspections, tests, production on waste handling equipment such as balers, compactors, bin lifting systems and shredders
The continued development of skills is required ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard
Report directly to the Production / Projects Manager and team daily, communication is a pivotal part of the operation.
Normal working week – Monday to Friday
The Role:
- Proven experience in the fault finding, diagnosis, rectification and repair of the company product portfolio
- A self-starter who is happy to work on their own but appreciate the importance of being part of a bigger team
- Enthusiastic with a friendly helpful demeanour with excellent interpersonal skills as they are the face of the company
- Strong attention to detail to perform repairs and maintenance of machines to a high standard and the accurate completion of paperwork
- Flexible with a positive attitude to assist with various demands made on the business
- Core maintenance experience within plant, auto or industrial machinery
- Strong general mechanical knowledge
- Strong general electrical knowledge
- Experience with dealing with customers face to face
- Have a good working knowledge and experience of installation, maintenance, inspection and breakdown repair activities
- Have the ability to install equipment working from manufacturers’ instruction manuals and our CAD drawings
- Be a multi-skilled engineer with pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical expertise, and a proven ability to deliver excellent quality of service to customers
- Be flexible and willing to work overtime and occasional weekends
- Computer literate, preparation and completion of paperwork
- Be self-motivated
- Be customer focused
- Possess a positive “can-do” attitude towards solving customer problems
- Be confident and able to work under own initiative
